DOH has strictly prohibited online sales of contact lenses and other medical supplies and hence prompting vendors to try other channels such as Facebook. Yesterday officials with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) under the Department of Health stressed , those who sell contact lenses via Facebook will be subject to a fine ranging from NT$30,000 to NT$150,000, as the practice violates the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act.
This is because contact lenses are clearly defined by the DOH as a kind of medical device, they are not allowed to be traded online in any form, and therefore online sales, whether via online auctions, Facebook or blogs, will be fined NT$30,000 to NT$150,000 for violating the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act,.
Interestingly when this story was published in many journals the ads shown in those content pieces are online contact lens vendors :):) Even above this post i see LensKart ad from google some times ...
